Helloooooooo Fellow Readers!!!

Am really sorry on behalf of S.A.C for not updating this site for quite a while.

It's not that we do not have things to report, it's just, there are SO MANY things. ( You'll see!)

And as a college student, things can get pretty hectic.

I would like to just say that please do come back often, as it will be updated at least on a weekly basis.

You'll never know. I'm taking charge from now on. *grins*

Hi people, sorry for not updating since taking up this post.
Reason being that I was having exam, and now since exam is over.
I should do my part.

Well it's a new DD now, and a different style from the previous DDs'.
And do correct my grammar error. I'm learning here.
Without further adieu, let's go back to election day.

29/10/09, the day when it was not a normal meeting.

As usual, aka Kiwi held the meeting.

Honestly, I was surprised that there was no interview beforehand, so I came in without absent minded.
And to my horror, there was a-sort-of-interview thing. Alamak lah!

I wouldn’t say that this is my last post here as a DD. Who knows right? ;)
But if it really is, I honestly feel oh-so-reluctant to leave this blog.
And I must say being a DD definitely didn’t feel like it was a job at all.
And for that, I truly thank those who gave me the opportunity.
Thank you, thank you and thank you.

And Plaster, I really enjoyed working with you too.
Although rare in a team effort, everything honestly went super duper smooth sailing between us.
I could never ask for a better partner. :)

And I’ll never ever forget you.

This would be most probably my last update being a Documentary Director.

Time do flies when you are having fun in the club. With all the craziest people in the club and the hilarious jokes brought by them.

SAC-AdventuRun 2009

On the 4th October 2009, the event kicked off at 6.30am where registration of participants begun. The area was congested and crowded by all the runners.

Subsequently, the master of ceremony briefed the participants on the rules and regulations of the run and of course welcomed all the participants who've registered themselves for this Charity Run!

An upbeat warm up session was then held for the runners. In addition, the aerobic dances had incur hyper-activeness among the participants! The atmosphere was filled with laughter and enjoyment!

When the time approaches 7.30am, the runners were flagged off separately according to the running distance and the gender of the participant.

Around 8.30am, the front stage of the Headquarters were filled full by the runners who've completed their exhausting yet challenging routes.

After the exhausting run, participants were entertained by various games, dance performance by Taylor's Dance Club and a Wushu performance by the Kung Fu Boys. Their performance was outstanding and indescribable!

After the cool and amazing performances, the event was continued with a speech by the PAWS representative and the organizing chairperson of AdventuRun 2009, Lim Paik Wan.

Later on, a mock cheque was presented with the amount of RM7,000 to the PAWS representative.

Finally, the highly anticipated prize giving ceremony was held.

The winner of the 4km Open Male category is Muhammad Syafiq Razak.

As for the ladies, Lee Yen Lley took the title of the winner.

In the 8km Open Male and Female category, Goh Seow Kiong and Ng Ai Ling emerged as the winner.

Tan Wah Sing on the other hand was the winner of the 8km Veteran Male Category, proving age is not a factor at all!

Last but most definitely not least, Chiew Yoke Chee was the winner of the 8km Veteran Female category.

A lucky draw was subsequently held with many attractive prizes such as Crocs Shoe

and 19 inch LCD monitor sponsored by ACER.

To sum it all, AdventuRun 2009 was a great success for the Sky Adventure Club of Taylor's University College, not only we have managed to raise a tremendous amount of fund for PAWS, but we've created awareness regarding homeless animals in Malaysia as well.

This success would not be achieved without the support of Pester Magazine as the official sponsor and Dog Trainster, MariGold, Sunway Lagooon, Shokubutsu, Dress Your Wall, Swatch, MPH, Pets Wonderland, Johnson & Johnson, Sunway Megalanes, Crocs, Pepsi, Acer and Vico as the rest of the sponsors!

Commercial - Legendary Heroes

Once upon a time, there are Two Legendary Heroes.
Plaster, which is good in Umbrella and Teddy which is good in Fan
They decided to have a fight to determine who's the strongest of all.

Scene 1

Plaster was ready with his Umbrella and Teddy was ready with his Fan

Scene 2

And they were ready to attack each other!

Scene 3

Plaster opened his Umbrella and trying to defend himself from Teddy's invisible laser emitted from his finger

Scene 4

After that, Plaster grabbed his opportunity to launch an attack after Teddy got worn off of his laser

Scene 5

Plaster tried to poke Teddy with his Super Umbrella Attack but Teddy was alert enough to defend himself

Scene 6

Teddy was brave enough to assault Plaster once again and Plaster tried to defend himself again!

Scene 7

And what do you know? Plaster was actually trying to charge his Super Push Back Umbrella Attack previously and he killed Teddy

Scene 8

Plaster won the match and he was the legendary Umbrella Hero
And he laughed like a SAKAI

The Sky Adventure Club is organizing an event called AdventuRun 2009.

This event is a CHARITY RUN and the purpose of this event is to raise fund and the fund raised will goes to Progressive Animal Welfare Society also known as PAWS

This is the details of the event:

Venue: Taman Tasik Permaisuri, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur
Time: 6am ~ 11am
Registration starts on: 07-09-2009 at Taylor's University College (Main Campus) or Taylor's Business School (Ground Floor)

Orientation Camp - Cherating

At ~~0630~~ 0700, participants of the Orientation Camp departed from TBS in four cars. Namely, Banana’s, Wolf’s, Lalat’s and Sand Dragon’s.

We also stopped by Kuantan to have curry mee as lunch. Satisfied faces from having a scrumptious meal.

And finally, we arrived

to the beautiful Cherating
where Cookie awaits.

And immediately, we kicked off with the first game.
In this game, we are given a paper filled with details such as an animal you’d want to be, which SAC member you’d hug, which SAC member you’d like to be and find an SAC member that never slept in class.

So we started our search.

Then, it was time for the truth to be revealed.
and it seemed like everyone was intrigued by it.

Mouse conducted the second game which requires fellow team mates to form a specific arrangement according to the paper they drew.
For example, a paper that says 5 hands and 4 legs would require all team members to only have that amount of hands and legs touching a small cardboard which acts as the platform.
The aim of the game was to generate a closer bond among team mates.

and it did reach it’s aim.

Next, it was time to set up the tents.

Fish looking very mak cik beli sayur with that tent bag.

After setting up tent, we went on to our 3rd team building game.
This is a game which involves teams retrieving and flinging water balloons to other teams using a towel.

Team Hornbill.

Losers or winners, I believe everyone had a good laugh in this game.

Subsequently,it was the Amoeba Race.
Participants were split into two large groups where there is one navigator who ~~conveniently~~ broke his two legs and required one fella to carry him around, some acted as the cytoplasm whereas the rest of them were the membrane which had to link their arms together.
The navigator holds a parchment that describes the directions to follow and directs the rest of them.

I haven’t seen any pictures of the teams as the amoeba, but it will be posted up as soon as I received any.

[edited 030909] The next game is water rugby. Much like the regular rugby, the aim is to snatch the ball and bring it over to safety. But the twist is, there is only one member of the team that can touch the ball. And this member has to sit on the shoulders of another member while the rest acts as the bodyguard.
However, due to insufficient time and confusions among the players, this game was unsuccessful and participants ended up just getting the ball back to shore.

As the sun begins to set, participants prepare for the much anticipated barbecue.

The best food in the barbecue.

Due to lack of food, participants head to the nearby restaurant where we waited for hours till the food arrived.

Finally, everyone went to bed or more specifically, a sleeping bag.

On the second day, plans to start with the activities at 0500 failed due to the rain.
Instead, we woke up at 0700 and had our breakfast.

Once the rain stopped, we played a treasure hunt where we looked for bottles buried in the sand according to given clues.

And since they were suppose to look for it individually, the rest of them,

played volleyball

or just posed as a mak cik.

The rain continued again after that and we were forced to cancel the plans for the rest of the day and pack up.

We left the beach at about 1200 and headed back to TBS.

But of course, we stopped by for lunch.

Cycling Pledge Expedition 2009

Hello to all members! I'm proud to announce that we've completed our Cycling Pledge Expedition 2009 which consists of 283km in total!

Congratulation to all cyclists of Sky Adventure Club! Throughout this journey, the members have pushed their own limit till the very end with their determination, perseverance and persistence!

Now, please allow me to present to you the photos and the short summary of our whole journey!

Day 1-20th August 2009

We departed from Taylor's Business School at 4.30pm & reached OLY Apartment around 8pm .We unpacked our luggage, went to dinner and prepared ourselves for the next day!

Day 2 - 21st August 2009

On the next morning, members woke up at 5.30a.m. to prepare themselves for the cycling pledge expedition. All members were dropped off in front of Equatorial Hotel (our starting point) before the luggage, bags and bicycles were loaded into the cars and sent to the starting point for second round. Mak See Kay (Cookie) who is the Fitness Director of SAC had a warm-up session before the cycling pledge started and Loong Yun Kit (Wolf) checked all the bicycles before the journey started. Other members helped out in pasting the sponsors’ logos and the slogans of global warming awareness on the cars. At around 8.00a.m, Loong Yun Kit (Wolf) gave his last briefing and we started our journey with the formation arranged by him

And then... WE KICKED OFF!

The journey started off from Equatorial Hotel was indescribable. It was fun and exciting. The members were fired-up and amazed by the downhill slopes. Despite the steepness of the slopes, members were reminded not to cycle too fast and must be alert at all times, particularly the rocks on the floor.

Cameron Highlands was not just purely downhill. There were also many steep uphill. At first, members struggled themselves to overcome the steep slope. However, this uphill caused the members to be even well warmed-up and hence further slopes did not hinder the members to complete the journey. Perseverance and determination did count!

With hours of cycling, we've covered 94km on the 1st day. We unloaded our luggage & overnight at Hotel Oriental & Restaurant, located at Kampar.

Day 3 - 22nd August 2009

On the next day, members woke up at the same time, 5.30.a.m, Hoh Kar Ming (Kiwi), Miss Gomathi (Advisor-SandDragon) and a few members checked-out while other members packed their things, placed them on the cars and moved their bikes to a nearby petrol station for conveniences.

Without time wastage, members warmed-up themselves beside the petrol station. Without further delay, we started our journey at 7.a.m. sharp. Although the current roads were flat, there were a lot of cars, buses and motorbikes. Therefore, members were reminded to be more alert for the incoming vehicles. Furthermore, members encountered steep uphill-slope again; but they overcame it.

Despite the long journey and hot weather, the members still had fun with the camera:

With all the energy we used up, we stopped at Bidor to have our lunch:

After recharging ourselves, the members were back on the track!! & we cycled to Tanjung Malim!!

Around 12.30pm, the sky rained heavily. Despite that, we didn't stop at all and we pushed ourselves all the way to Tanjung Malim until we found a station to stop.

As the rain subsided, the members were back on track once again. However, the rain started to pour even heavier later on and the members were shivering due to the air movement while cycling. Besides, the air blown as the vehicles passed by. This was indeed a tough challenge to the members.

After an hour of cycling, the rain finally came to an end. Without further delay, the members continued to cycle until they reached Hotel Sahara Inn at Kampar, Perak. Members proudly announced that they reached Hotel Sahara Inn in the evening at around 4.30p.m which was ahead than the estimated time. Members managed to cover 98km on the third day.

Day 4 - 23rd August 2009

For the last day, the members woke up at 5.30a.m. The members did a warm-up session as the weather was cold. This was to ensure that the members will not have muscle cramps during the expedition.

The journey was smooth in the morning and there were some punctured tyres during the journey. The members stopped at a petrol station due to the swollen eyes Loong Yun Kit (Wolf) encountered. Tang Kah Tim (Kayu), one of the crew drove him to a nearby clinic but unfortunately the clinic was closed on Sunday. Therefore, Loong Yun Kit (Wolf) insisted to continue the journey and he clarified that he was still able to cycle.

In the afternoon, the members had lunch at Rawang and continued their journey after that. Once again, the members encountered much steeper uphill-slopes as compared to Cameron Highlands. Members struggled all the way up and the feelings were indescribable. The hot weather and the sore leg pulled down the stamina of the members.

However, the members were still able to go through it with few stops at the side of the hill. After that, there was a downhill slope which led the way back to Kuala Lumpur through Sungai Buloh areas.

And again, we encountered another route which was going up all the way!!

Before heading down to Sungai Buloh, we decided to take a group picture

The weather was extremely hot. Out of nowhere, Mak See Kay (Cookie) suggested us to fill tap water into those empty bottles so that the members could pour it on themselves to cool them down. Surprisingly, it worked!

Members came to a stop at a petrol station near the Subang Jaya International Airport and they gave their final push back to Taylor’s Business School. When they reached Kelana Jaya, the members were excited and hyped- up as they were getting closer to Taylor’s Business School. With the motivation they gave to each other, the members cycled all the way back to Taylor’s Business School and reached at 4.25p.m. Members finally covered the remaining 91km.

The coolest thing was, our member, Flowerhorn cried because she managed to cycle from Cameron Highland back to Taylor's Business School without givinig up!!

Today we participated in the Charity Carnival organized by the Student Council of TUC.
Not only we were recruiting new members, we were also selling Ribena+Lemonade drinks.

And so we started off with preparations.

Ta da! We finally came up with this set up.

We even had Maggi going around with an impromptu sandwich board.

Then, it was time to work!

But being SAC-ians, it was definitely not just all work and no play.

A visit from Plaster who is supposedly sick yet still eating waffle. Tsk tsk. Get well soon, fellow DD!

Training for Cycling Pledge 09’

I’m incapable of updating as quickly as Plaster does. Do forgive!

Well,for those who would like to join our Cycling Pledge trainings,
it is held on Wednesdays, 4.15pm till 6.45pm.

The first training kicked off with choosing our bicycles.

Then the repairing work such as

pumping air

and replacing those that are pancit-ed.

All in the dark gloomy basement.

Finally we were ready for our training.

We rode around the neighbourhood and took an obstacle course made by Wolf.

Tentatively, Cycling Pledge will be held on 20th to 23rd August.

Another Day of Training!

Today's evening definitely is a hot and spicy day! Even Egg can become a fried egg in a few seconds! xD

The members had a team building game today and they took 20 minutes to finished it.

Furthermore, some of the members are required to do Cookie's devilish training as they did not attend last week practice.

SAC Farewell Dinner + Banana's Bday

Yo yo yo!! The one and only one Farewell Dinner for Alumni has come again!!

Members attended this dinner : Elephant, Coffee, Nottie, Plaster, Kiwi, Teddy, Ocean, Rain, Banana, Cookie, Tiny, Thunder, Flowerhorn, Papaya, Nemo, Lalang, Maggi, Lampu, Mew Mew, Tic Toc, Alien, Peanut, Lalat, Teddy and Wave!!

Kuala Lipis Day 2

Yes, I know I said I’ll update later next week. Sorry, bad estimation.

Day 2 started off with ~~sentry~~ breakfast.

We had tuna mayo with bread, mushroom soup, Durian’s creation of maggi cup with mushroom soup, regular maggi cup, Pringles, Tiger biscuit, Hello Panda! etc for breakfast.

Yet, some were still hungry. :/

We then packed up and got ourselves ready to leave.

The happy people sitting inside the car.

But it’s not all that easy inside with so many things stacked on you.Second round of exhilaration.

We then headed off to the town for some business to take care of. :)
The members parted ways for lunch and the group I was with went for lunch at none other than the Hakka Mee shop.
Unfortunately, it was finished and we had to settle with an average fried mee.

After that, we started our journey to Wolf’s durian plantation.

Umbrellas seemed like the most useful tool for this adventure.

Upon reaching the durian plantation, we witnessed Wolf burn a pest plant, played with firecrackers and look for durians to eat although it wasn’t the season yet.

A (falsely stated) broken bridge won’t stop us from looking for a waterfall to play in.

After having a fantabulous time in the waterfall, our stomachs called and we went for dinner in a place that served the most scrumptious fish I have ever tasted.
And for a price that is less than what we pay for regular dinners back in Subang.
Too bad I didn’t get a picture of the fish.
My hunger obviously overwhelmed my responsibility as a DD. Forgive me!

We then hit the road back home.
It took us twice as long as it took us to get there due to a major accident in the highway.
We arrived back at TBS around 10pm and from there, everyone parted ways.

It was overall a successful trip despite the troubles with the guides.
And we thank ;-

Crazy for organizing it.

and Wolf for being such a help.
We know it’s stressful.

Kuala Lipis Day 1

And so, the 4th of July started with the SAC-ians gathering in TBS at 6am.

We even had visitors!
The very lively Sand Dragon. :D

Peanut. Teddy. Lalat.

After having everyone there, the drivers ; Wolf, Lalat, Nemo and Durian started their journey.

We stopped by somewhere in Gombak(if I’m not wrong) to wait for Banana.

I had to sepia it. They look perfectly kampung enough for a sepia picture.

As a result of too much waiting, members start finding ways to entertain themselves.

From Pepsi Cola to thumb fighting, we had it all.

And of course, some took the traditional way of killing time.

Nottie. Pig. Coffee.

Upon reaching, we met our ~~RM180 per day~~ guides.
Then had a/two heavenly bowl of Hakka Mee for brunch.

Can you hear the Hallelujah chorus?

I know he can.

Finally, we drove off to the entrance of the Kenong Rimba Park.
Since only 4 wheel drives can enter the jungle, the rest of the drivers had to park their car at the town.
And so, the waiting begins again.

Meditation to release the stress of waiting.

Once all the drivers were back to the entrance of the jungle, we started our journey in the jungle.

And for these people, it’s the best part of the whole trip.

Subsequently,we arrived at the campsite.
Because our guides were having their lunch,
we had to wait once more. (smiles sarcastically)

This time, we had the hammock to entertain us.

It was so fun, people would literally kill to have it.

Eventually, we manage to kick start with the real activities.
We were off to the first cave known as Gua Buta.

I heart Sand Dragon. Heh.

This is the mini slide in the cave that has a camerawoman to take your picture on your cue.

The oh-so-inquisitive Sand Dragon.

It was the longest cave among the three, and I would say the most interesting as well.
It was the only one that required climbing,crawling and such.

Too bad for Coconut who had to struggle to crawl through narrow holes.
His long legs finally had a disadvantage to it.

In Gua Buta, we also spotted this injured bat that was trying so hard to avoid Peanut who was trying to snap a close up picture of it.

Then, it is off to the second cave, known as Gua Harimau.

Thank you, Durian, for being a temporary DD.
My face can finally appear in the pictures. :D

I presume it’s called Gua Harimau due to that harimau like rocks that were in the cave.
In this cave, we spotted an injured frog instead.

Gua Harimau was then followed by this…I-dont-know-whether-its-considered-a-cave-or-not place.
We just climbed up this “cave” then we climbed down.
No injured animals this time.

This is the one of the only clear picture I have of this “cave” because somehow my camera just couldn’t take a decent one.
Thank you, Nemo. DSLR never fails. :D

Next was Gua Hijau.
No pictures were taken in this cave because we were there to look at the gazillion bats living there.
So, any source of light was prohibited.

However, Nemo manage to take a picture of the outside of the cave.

That marks the end of our cave visits and from there, we headed back to the campsite.

Just before we arrive back to our campsite.

Next on the agenda, was lunch(although it was 5pm) and setting up the tents.

All these setting up was exempted for people who went Genting, of course.

Ta da!

Members were given time to settle down and refresh themselves.
Then came the most anticipated activity,
STEAMBOAT!

It was raining cats and dogs, so we had it in a small shack near the campsite.

As for the rest, who couldn’t exactly do anything;-

We had sausage, mushroom, crabstick, slightly rotten fishball, eggs, rotten egg, yee mee and more for dinner.

The spaghetti that saved the day!

And the delicious spaghetti comes from this.

Uno and Papaya have to check the tents for Kuala Lipis this Saturday and therefore unable to go and Durian went to help them out. Crazy and Egg went back coz they will be having their exam tomorrow. All the best! As for Coconut, I will say " I dunno ", hehe

So basically, today's training is more like "gaming", is tiring yet fun!

the members of SAC trained their butts off at the Subang Lake.From painful stretching

to torturing sit ups.

But of course, some could take it just fine.

And some absolutely did not.

While some exercised their rights as an alumni.

Whatever it is, we know Cookie’s out there to get us.

Paintball + Dinner

I present you the lengzais and lengluis of SAC!

SAC-sians had a Paintball session after the day of election and was organized by Peanut, our new Secretary, at Mudtrekker, Sungai Buloh

Team A - Coffee,Elephant,Pizza,Wolf, Lalat, Maggi, Lampu, Banana, Cheese, Cookie, few AdventuRace champs
Team B - Egg,Plaster,Peanut,Hero,Gorilla,Ocean, Coconut, Nottie, Nemo,Pig and few AdventuRace champs

1st & 2nd round, Team A pawned Team B severely. 3rd round held in a mini forest, which was won by Team A. Later on, everybody team up randomly and play " 1 Life " game.
At the end of the day, Team A won and appears to be the champion for the overall game!

After that, we went to Telok Gong to eat seafood. Nemo ordered mamitte prawn, crabs, veggies, chicken, taofu and etc..

Nemo was telling his old man story that according to Thailand's tradition, the last person who took the last dish will be able to find his/her partner way earlier.
Guess who took the last dish ? Find it out from them, haha

I would like to say that, not only we had the fun but there are also other people who had fun as well.
Can you guess who are they ?

Hello people!! Last Thursday we had a birthday celebration for Papaya, Nottie and Mouse...while this Thursday for Egg's birthday...it was indeed a busy month for out wallets as money keeps flowing out for cake and more CAKE...he-he

Firstly, last Thursday, we bought a cute little cake to celebrate Papaya, Nottie and Mouse's birthdayssss...of course, it was a surprise, as usual...

Earth Week 2009 ( 15th April 2009- 22nd April 2009)

Hello once again people...Recently Sky Adventure Club once again held its annual Earth Week Programme in conjunction with the United Nations' annual environmental programme. As always this time around, our club once again worked hand in hand with the World Wide Fund for Nature
( WWF Malaysia) to help promote public awareness about the earth and the environment amongst college students and the public alike in SS15. Below are some pictures of our Earth Week programme.

To help make Earth Week a success, a booth was set up at the main campus to attract students and the public. Throughout the week, every member of SAC was encouraged to wear the colour green t promote environmental friendliness. Hehe

At the booth, our SACians helped to raise funds for WWF Malaysia by helping them sell their official T-shirts and merchandise. Other than that, the members also sold scented candles and organic plants. Hehe though initially the response was rather lukewarm, as time passed more and more college students visited our booth and it generated a lot of publicity for the club and our earth. =)

Not only did the booth sell items, a reading and information counter was also set up to educate the public. Besides that the booth also conducted games and quizzes for the public. Haha ain't the earth cute in this picture? Bleks =P

All in all, SAC managed to raise a grand total of RM 1440 for WWF Malaysia from the sales of their T-shirts. The grand total was then returned to WWF when our OCP for the event, Wave met with one of the WWF's representatives at their headquarters. Once again, good job to Wave and fellow SACians for a good job done on promoting Earth Week. Have a nice day everyone =)

AdventuRace 2009 ( Part 2 )

Hi guys as promised, this is the second post on our recently concluded AdventuRace 2009. We left of at Coffee's house during our famous AdvntuRace blend. Here are some more eeky gooey scenes that the teams went through..hehe...it's enough to put your stomach off...

Right with all those disgusting things down our teams' stomaches, it was time for a little challenging exercise. We had a BMX session at the local park in Bandar Utama where teams were put through quite a challenging course. Their bottoms really hurt a bit after the ride. Hehe

After an interesting bike ride, the teams were then asked to proceed to Taman Lembah Kiara which is a very nice park in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. Teams were tortured the Japanese way, that is they were asked to wear Japanese pressure slippers ( slippers to increase blood circulation) all the way to the hanging bridge. Not only that they were forced to count the number os planks too on the bridge. How torturing can life get? Haha

It's all too painful to walk on two legs

Moving on from Lembah Kiara, teams paid a visit to one of our main sponsors which was the Swatch Shop at Pavillion. Upon arriving at Swatch Pavillion teams were asked to memorise and identify correctly the Swatch watches they were shown earlier. Good luck in spotting the right watch in a shop full of nice watches. =)

After the nice trip to Pavillion, teams were then asked to proceed to Dataran Merdeka where they had to be patriotic in the sense that in order to complete this task, teams had to teach our national song, ' The Negaraku' to foreign tourists who were around the area. It was pretty funny to watch. Hehe

After the Negaraku task, teams then proceeded to Petaling Street where they had to complete Kakuro ( a game which is similar to Sudoku) at a famous KL book shop there. Upon completion of that task, teams then had to return to SS15. Teams then were put through a memory test when they had to recall their journey throughtout the whole day. With that done and dusted teams could finally proceed to the finishing line after one long day around the Klang Valley.

AdventuRace 2009 ( Part 1)

Hello once again everyone. About a week and a half back Sky Adventure Club once again successfully conducted one of it's 3 biggest events in a year which was the AdventuRace 2009a combination of Fear Factor and The Amazing Race. Being such a big scale event, planning started a few months back with Coffee being the OCP. This year's event was a success as it got good anticipation from every party involved. The race was held on the 18th of April 2009 and flag off was at the groundfloor Taylor's Business School. 20 teams participated and they came up with quite interesting names for themselves such as the ' Three Blind Mice' , 'Victorious Secret' , 'Threesome' and 'Three Knights Stand' . Sounds horny don't you think? Haha

So we begin our race with teams being given a task to look for 3 masked men around SS15 in a correct sequence. Some teams were quite good with their directions and managed to loacte the masked men in a correct sequence. The 1st masked men was at FTZ cybercafe, second one at the Carrefour bus stop and third one at Taylor's College main library. After that came the sandwich making task in which teams had to make 10 sets of sandwich and sell them for RM 5 a set or more. Sounds crazy but that is just good business..hehe. Some teams resorted to waking thier friends up from their deep sleep just to do business. Well that's wat you do when you're in a race.

The next task would turn out to be quite a challenge for some teams as it really favoured the female participants and absolutely killed the guys. It was the cross stictch at Subang Lake where teams had to form the letters S A C on 3 pieces of cloth before proceeding off to thier next task.

After quite a stressful time stitching, teams then had to proceed back to SS15 for a certain task called Innardtia where teams had to do quite a simple thing. They just had to bite transfer chicken innards using thier mouth. Mmmmm..sounds nice doesnt it?

Ok so maybe not so nice after all..hehe

After some throwing up due to those nasty innards the teams then proceeded to a place known as 'Coffee's house' located somewhere in Bandar Utama. Quite a few teams were tricked into going to 1 Utama thinking that ' Coffee's House' was something like an Old Town Kopitiam or Starbucks for that matter. The writer's team actually asked the receptionist at 1U where was ' Coffee's House' located. Upon arriving at the real Coffee's house the teams were then pleasantly surprised with a realli nice drink. It was the famous AdventuRace Blend. Nutritious and Disgusting. Haha..ingredients included were raw eggs, ketchup, ginger, onions, chilli sauce, chilli padi, dried crushed biscuits and all the other nice things you can think of. Upon your first look you'd probabaly think that the blend came from Starbucks. Haha..Wave and Happy were more than happy to serve the participants

Wow...we spent our night on the beach. However, a heavy rain suddenly poured and all members were forced to get into the tents. The sun rise view activity which was supposed to carry out in the morning was forced to be cancelled due to the heavy rain...sad....

This did not spoil our mood after all, about 10 a.m., the rain finally stopped. Members started to wake up to have a simple but lovely breakfast, the 'typical' breakfast we normally have when we go for whatever camping trips...Tuna bread and Milo...yummy!!!

After everyone finished their breakfasts, there was another game ready to be played!!! It was known as the compass march, as usual, the previously divided teams had to follow the directions given on a paper to find their next locations, it was not an easy task as the members had to solve the instructions given to determine where they had to go, this was assisted by a compass. Many groups were forced to restart because they failed to go to the instructed directions as suggested on the paper. However, due to the strong determination of each group, most of the groups managed to reach the end point, which was exactly the STARTING POINT!!!

And congratulations to the team known as the We Are the Sakai Gang that won the best team award, the camp finally ended amicably after 2 days!!!Wohoo....we finally packed our things and had our lunch at Pizza Hut before we headed back to TBS.

Orientation Camp (FIRST DAY)

New and current members went for a camping trip at Blue Lagoon, Port Dickson last weekend. It was aimed to strengthen the relationship between members and to have FUN!!! It was not the usual adventurous orientation camps organized in the past but it was a more leisure camping trip on the beach....^-^ A big clap and million thanks to the organising committees for making it worked and ran smoothly....

At around 8:30 a.m., we departed from TBS after having a simple breakfast at Foh Foh. We only departed when the teacher adviser, Miss Alina and also known as the ROCK briefed us on some safety measures that should be taken and also ordered all the drivers NOT TO SPEED!!

We finally reached Blue Lagoon at about 11. We were divided into 4 groups and the 1st task assigned to each group was to come out with a group name with cheers and an interesting story line using the nicknames of every member in the group. We will have to present on that after we set up our tents.

Now time to set up tents!!! It was not an ordinary setting up tents activity, instead of letting the experienced members to instruct the members who do not know how to set up tents, the members whom do not have any idea at all on how to do it became group leaders for six groups. They were assigned with the job to instruct the other blind-folded members to set up the tents, COOL right?? The coolest part of all was all the other members weren't suppose to give any comments and must follow strictly what their group leaders instructed. It was an activity that promoted trust and teamwork amongst members, which is vital in order to succeed in organising and carrying out events.

After all the groups succeeded in setting up the tents, there was a certain time allocated for everyone to rest and get some water...After about half an hour, the presentation of each group for the group cheers and stories were presented in an orderly manner...Many groups came out with weird names like We are the Siao One and Sa Kai gang. All groups possessed great creativity and came out with a ONE OF A KIND story, associated with actions and sounds...he-he.. Groups' performance, everybody was trying hard to impress the audience!!!

After the presentation, members had KFC as their lunch after starving for quite a long time. Besides that, a pandan birthday cake was prepared for Nemo and Pizza. Happy Belated Birthday to Pizza and Nemo!! Everyone was well satisfied with all the food, yum yum...(finger licking good)

After having lunch, members started to play team building games such as the monkeys see monkeys do, Egyptian mummies, SAC friendship tower and the Tarantula. Though the hardest task of all was the Tarantula, we managed to complete the task in 19minutes, WOHOO!! All these games promoted the importance of teamwork,trust and determination if we wanted to complete the tasks given. Of course, there were some members that failed to trust their partners and they were to be punished...ha-ha...
Poor Lalat, being pushed front and back...-.- Just follow me...this is called Monkeys see Monkeys do... Egg was demonstrating a scene in a movie...Guess what movie was it?Tarantula...everybody had to support the container at the middle and pour the contents into basket... Go guys!!wohoo...

After long hours of games, members were given some time to rest, clean up or to sleep due to exhaustion. Of course, members had BBQ for dinner!!! preparation before BBQ was never easy, few STRONG members digged a hole to put charcoal and some were busy preparing the food...lamb, beef, chicken, sausages, corn (yum yum...delicious...) and thanks to Pig's and Elephant's mums, lamb and beef were deliciously marinated... Guess who's butt was that?? he-he...

We spent the night playing games and also BBQ...many of our food were added with extra ingredient which was the sand, but who cares? it did not stop all of us from eating. Most importantly, we had loads of FUUUUNNNNNNN!!!!

It was another SAC's weekly meeting as usual, we planned a SURPRISE celebration for three of them...Alien was briefing the past Adventure Races and suddenly, Egg appeared at the door with a Yummy Chocolate Indulgence cake singing Happy Birthday's song....

Treasure Hunt & Cheese's Birthday

Ooops..we seemed to have mixed up the posts a little. Anyway so sorry for the little mix up. Anyway as always every year SAC has its treasure hunt to find who really is the best and has what it takes to be a SAC-ian. To start off with, everyone who signed up on ECA day met at Taylor's Business School where they were all divided into teams by Membershop Director Teddy.

The teams were then sent on their way to do their tasks such as asking strangers to sing the 'Negaraku'. Check out the guy's expression. So unpatriotic!

Other than asking strangers to sing the 'Negaraku' the teams had to also sell roses in conjunction with Valentine's Day. =) Some of them were v good salespeople.

Next came the Spider Web where teams had to untangle themselves properly.

Well well looks like all the teams had a good time. They indeed found a treasure which was friendship on that day=) Thank you all for participating. Moving on the writer here would like to say sorry to Cheese for not posting this soon enough. Haha Happy belated Bday Cheese..here's a nice portrait of u and some really nice cheesecake on your face =)

The past 2 weeks were the 2 stages of screening process which consist of the adventurous treasure hunt and interviews for the people that passed the treasure hunt...and FINALLY, we got our 15 new members...WOHOO!!

We had our first meeting with all these new members on Thursday (26 Feb) and we were glad that all 15 members turned up...they are going to undergo a probation period of 3 months before becoming the official members...so GOOD LUCK guys!!

Before they were asked to think of a nickname of their own, all of the current members had to introduce themselves to the juniors...

ECA Day a.k.a The Big Day ^-^

It was indeed a BIG BIG BIG day for SAC, thanks to all the members involved in this yearly event, we successfully attracted more than 200 people to sign up for SAC, so lets give a big clap to all their hard work...BRAVOOOO......

The setting up of booth started at 11 a.m., some members set up the tent while others busy decorating the board. The event started on 3p.m....

The booth set up was awesome, how awesome was it? Lets take a look at some of these pictures...

Irau Hiking Trip, 29th November - 30th November 2008

With no exception, 7 Sky Adventurers hiked up Gunung Irau for the 3rd time this year. Although the number of hikers is obviously fewer than the previous batch, their spirit still strong!! We gathered as early as 4 a.m. and we took off from Taylor's Business School about 4: 35a.m. After several hours of driving, we finally reached Brinchang and had a light breakfast (roti canai with drinks), it was really cool up here in Cameron. When we were eating, Hippo started to scare some of the 1st time hikers saying that the thickness of the mud is about 15cm, showing the thickness with his hands some more (scary...@-@)

After everyone was all set, we headed at the foot of Mt. Irau. The weather was quite good, cool but still damp. To our surprised, it was not only our group who was going to hike only, joining us was a group of 5, one of the hikers dressed like he was going for a war (funny....ha-ha). And we began our journey...

It was quite easy at the beginning, everybody was R-E-L-A-X. We kept moving forward, sometimes we talked along the way up and down the mountain, some sang too, sometimes silence filled the air. We stopped for water, to rest so that we had enough energy to move forward as there was a long way ahead. We hiked enthusiastically so that we could reach the peak as soon as possible. With Hippo leading us, taught us the technique to walk through the mud, it was much easier (not as hard as what Hippo said...he he). After approximately 3 hours of hiking, we finally reached Anak Irau (not the peak yet). All of us were really tired, we took a rest there. We ate some energy bars and of course drank some water to keep us filled with energy. We were so happy to meet our Taylor's lecturer at Anak Irau, with his bunch of friends. Actually he is not our lecturer, but Dragonaut Chemistry's lecturer, he took some pictures for us too. Due to time constraint, we decided not to hike further to the peak of Mt.Irau, not that we couldn't, but due to TIME CONSTRAINT.

After half an hour of rest, we began to hike back, the process of hiking back had slowed down a little due to the lack of energy (for the 1st time hikers). Unfortunately, the rain began to pour down, blurring our visions and the condition was even muddier. But we didn't stop because of that. We met some hikers along the way back, there was a group of 80 people who were hiking up. We exchanged regards, wishing each other good luck, grinned to them. Most of us were wondering when we will reach. How long was it?? Finally, light in front of us, we saw the hanging bridge, we were closer and closer. Everyone just couldn't wait for a single minute to reach, we moved even faster...Muahahahha, finally, we reached. We cleaned ourselves before we returned to the rented apartment.

Other Sky Adventurers joined us for dinner after that, we had warm steamboat for dinner, it was especially nice to have steamboat when we were at Cameron (cold place...yum yum). Besides, we visited the pasar malam nearby, non stop eating. We stayed up quite late to play cards and computer games, finally we ended the exhausted day about 2a.m. Next morning, we left Cameron and headed to Ipoh to have lunch, the famous white chicken with bean spouts. We drove to a shop to buy some Ipoh products before we drove back to Subang.

Yahoo!! we reached Anak Irau......say cheese......

What will you guys do if you have RM 60????? er mm........ of course we must EAT DINNER AT SHOGUN!!!!! muahaha.....eating at SHOGUN is a must in our lives ( i guessed so ).......not to have any regrets in our lives, Sky Adventure Club’s members decided to have their alumni dinner at SHOGUN in Sunway Pyramid...1st thing that we reacted when we stepped into Shogun was WAO WAO WAO!!That's cool.....happy to eat as much as we can, like we haven't been eating for ages....besides, many of us skipped our lunches or breakfasts just to eat this meal ( so that we can eat more )......he he, besides having different types of sushi ( trust me......really a lot...), there were also chocolate fountain, ice cream and deserts....( yum yum )

Most of the members joined this "GRANT" dinner ( of course, 60 bucks per person ), besides, alumnis which consist of Jakun, Mew Mew, Lalang, Hippo, Rice, Nemo, Panda, Bear Bear, Ocean, Gorilla, Cow Cow, Tic Toc and Pizza joined us as well. Other than that, others were the VIPs such as Mr.Ronson, Ms Dolly and her family, Ms Alina ( The Rock), and Ms Gomathi ( San Dragon). We were so happy they were able to make it…….They gave some speeches, Jakun, the Sky Adventure Club’s founder which was so “ touched” to see that this club still remain active ( don’t cry…), of course our formal and current presidents Dragoat and Alien also gave their speeches as well....The Rock ( cool hair...hehe) even prepared the script for this.....said she is so fortunate to be in SAC ( of course.....we know, we are also fortunate to have such a cool student's advisor as you...) , of course, Mr.Ronson also gave a short speech too.....

After eating for at least ten rounds……all Sky Adventure Club's members proceeded to the photo session, time to say out loud……." SACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC"……(chak chak) instead of the normal say “cheese”….he he……tat was so cute…..

hehe.....the night was still young, we actually planned a surprise party for Tiny and Lalang....ssshhhhhh, they didn't know. They were so blur, especially Tiny, she wanted to go back after the dinner but luckily we cheated her to go back to the restaurant again....haha....we sang Happy Birthday's song to them.......they were so touched, let's see their pictures.......wohoo.....

Ewwww Thunder....stop doing that!!! Tiny doesn't seemed like it at all...

2009 PLANNING & FILE PASSING CEREMONY

Wohoo....it was the 1st meeting held by our new president, lets put our hands together for Alien!!it was clearly a new start with new plannings ahead in 2009.....newly elected board of directors are given the chance to organize the various upcoming events....Cool cool.....with the much awaited upcoming events will surely be steppingstones for all the newly elected board of directors...

After the briefing on the upcoming events....file passing ceremony began.....( dang dang dang dang)......firstly, with the former fitness director, Coffee passed his power to Wolf. Before that, a quick brief by Coffee. Next, quartermasters' posts were of course passed by to Elephant and Coffee( ya rite.....former fitness director).....of course there was a photo session for them.....

Durian, the former membership director passed his file to Teddy ( Luckily there was no "Ni Hao and Xie Xie" session) hehe......he only said:" nothing special lah....just tick tick tick, msg msg msg, call call call, update update update and etc...." ( mauahaaha....)Next the "unique" combination of the club's shortest and tallest members ( Crazy and Coconut ) will take on the documentary directors' (DD) posts.....and the file was passed by the former DDs Dragonaut and Alien....Odd photo session.

Following up was the file passing by formal sponsorship director Kiwi to Thunder and Pig....with Kiwi giving her "golden" advices to Thunder and Pig. Papaya, the former treasurer passed the file to Mouse...( wow, what a thick file!!) Coming up Nottie, the former and also the current secretary will continue to serve for the club with another new member, Egg joining the assistant secretary post also received their thick files. Next were the vice presidents' posts that were joined in by Kiwi and Cheese get their files from the former vice presidents Banana and Teddy.

Finally, the former president Dragoat ( wearing a new cap) briefed a while before passing the file to our new president ALIEN......wohooo.....Hooray to all the newly elected board of directors and also not forget the hardwork of all the formal board of directors......( Clap clap)

AdventuRun 2008, 12th October

In the midst of taking on adventurous activities and having fun, the Sky Adventure Club never forgets to give back to society once in a while. We call this CSR (Club Social Responsibility). Haha…
AdventuRun 2008 was held on 12th October at the picturesque Taman Tasik Perdana in KL. The charity run this year aimed to raise funds for the National Cancer Society Malaysia. Participation fee was RM20 and there were 7 categories altogether catering for all ages. The distance was either 10km or 5km.
The event started at 7.30am with registration (but at like 5.30am for the crew members) followed by a warm-up session by our very shocked-but-spontaneously-efficient Coffee who did not know that he was supposed to be conducting it until the emcee announced it to the crowd. Yeah Coffee, you rock!

The competitive runners (10km) were flagged off soon after that, with the rest of the runners flagged off 10 minutes later.

Back at headquarters, there were booths set up by our official sponsor ING, other sponsors like the Vico truck and Abbott milk. There were also some interesting games to be played, such as the Guess Balls, Suck Balls and burping contest. Participants stood to win exciting prizes like the ING Renault car and shirt through these contests.

We also had a “Lend a Hand” palm print banner, in which we charged RM2 for a palm print on the AdventuRun banner. All proceeds from the games and palm printing were channeled to NCSM. For entertainment, there was a dance performance and a band.

After the prize-giving and lucky draw session, there was a short speech by the NCSM representative, Dr Saunthari who gave us advice on cancer prevention through a healthy lifestyle. Finally, the event came to an end after the Organizing Chairperson, the adorable Dragoat gave a closing speech.

We are extremely proud to say that the event raised a whopping RM6,870 for charity, a record high for our club. Here, we would like to thank our sponsors ING, DiGi, Vico, Yeo’s, Permanis Sandilands, Mudtrekker, Abbott Laboratories, Classic Bonita and A4ad for their contribution in making this event a success. And also to each and every crew member and participant who have indeed made a difference by running the distance for AdventuRun 2008!

Semi- Annual General Meeting

Ni hao everyone. The Semi -Annual General Meeting is that time of the year again where the baton exchange takes place between the members of SAC. It was the time where the current board members would step down from their posts and pass on their responsibilities to other members to have a go at running this great club. So basically with all SAC members gathered at room 4.12 at TBS , thus our Semi - Annual General Meeting began. To start of with , each post holder had to explain briefly his / her duties to all members starting from the Fitness Director $all the way to the President . With that done and dusted each member nominated by their fellow SACians for a certain post would have to present themselves in front of all other members , do some talking and answer some questions . With that democracy is practiced in this club and each member nominated will get votes from their fellow SACians to hold a certain post .

The process began starting with the top jobs which are the President and Vice President's posts . Interestingly the female SACians totally outnumbered the guys for the top jobs . Yup females are full of calibre and highly capable nowadays =) . After a round of voting and presenting, the club came to a conclusion that the new president would be none other than Alien assisted by her lovely Vices Kiwi and Cheese. Next up would be the posts of Secretaries and this club is proud to have Nottie continue serve and Egg joining in. Next up would be the post of Treasurer and Mouse was chosen to hold it. Yup it's still all females holding the posts. Moving on to the Documentary Directors, both Coconut and Crazy got the jobs to document on the club's activities. Finally a guy!=) For the Sponsorship Directors, the posts went to both Pig and her partner in crime, Thunder. (This guy here has the passion to talk). Next up for the Quartermasters' posts , Elephant and Coffee were chosen to undertake the responsibility . Moving on , Teddy was chosen to continue serving in the board as he was chosen too be the new Membership Director . Last but not least the task of putting all SACians back into shape again was given to Wolf as the new Fitness Director.

With the passing of the baton complete it was time for the old post holders to reflect back on what has been a great and enriching experience for them. To sum it all up each one of them had said the post they held had been a really rewarding experience and hoped the same would happen to the new post holders. Unfortunately every meeting has a parting as this club will be saying goodbye to Dragonaut, Mangosteen , Durian(and his trademark Ni Hao) , Tiny and Wave all who should be leaving Taylor's next term. We will surely miss you guys. In short with the exchange of the baton complete, hence begins a new phase of fun and adventure for SAC. Until the next baton exchange , let us all SAC members run well together.

A Not-So-Surprising Month

It has indeed been a busy busy month for us. Yes, busy for our wallets too, what with all our money saying goodbye to us as we makan, makan and makan.

Below is a brief summary of the birthdays that occured in the lovely months of August and September (Virgoans make good SACians)

First, there was the surprise for Dragoat and not-so-surprise for Bear Bear as we celebrated their birthdays (23rd Aug for Bear Bear and 25th Aug for Dragoat) at Nando's 1U on 29th August. Sorry to the waiter there, I think we pissed him off by taking so long to order, and it was almost closing time too buakaka.... The party continued at Mohsin for some of us.

Then there was Mew Mew's bbq birthday party at her house on 30th August. Sorry, no pictures here, all with Mew. I guess it comes as no surprise that SAC conquered the bbq pit (sorry to Mew's other guests!).

Next, there was Alien's not-so-surprise party on 2nd September and everyone had to endure 1hour plus of Babylon A.D. at GSC 1U. When the weird movie came to an end and the lights were turned on, everyone formed two rows behind Alien and sung happy birthday. The surprise was partially ruined as Alien bumped into Dragoat at the washroom and saw Bear Bear happily walking past. Some went home and the rest yam cha-ed at Canai Cafe.

It was nobody's birthday on 13th September but we played badminton at 3K and then headed down to Kuala Selangor for a mouth-watering seafood dinner.

Hippo was supposed to kidnapped on his birthday on 16th September but, yes, our attempt failed. However, we managed to attract the police with guns but we escaped in time to Wong Kok in SS2 where we continued the celebration. After that, a group of us who were apparently too free drove up to Genting to play cards at McD. Yup, too free.

After that, it was our lovable Gorilla's turn on the 26th September, whose real birthday falls on 24th. Then out strolled Nottie in a trolley with the birthday cake. Sorry Gori, we couldn't get a cake big enough to stuff her in, or we would have made her wear a bikini and pop out to sing you Happy Birthday buakakaka....

Sky Adventure Club, Taylor's University College is proud to announce that we will be organizing a Charity Run - AdventuRUN 2008 to raise funds for National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). We hereby would like to invite you, you and you (YES! all of you!) to participate in this charity run. Cross out 12 of october on your calanders, as SAC officially books that date! The details of the event are as stated below:

Event : AdventuRun 2008 – Make A Difference, Run The Distance

Beneficiary Organisation : National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM)

Date : 12 October 2008, Sunday

Time : 6.30am to 11.30am

Venue : Taman Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur (Nearby Dataran Merdeka)

Distance : 5km (for leisure runners,families & children)

10km (for competitive runners)

Participation fee : RM20 inclusive of AdventuRun t-shirt (only for early birds), goodies bag, bibs

Registration : 8 September - 12 October 2008, 6.45am (Early bird - 8 September - 2 October 2008)

Registration Centres : Taylor's University College, Main Campus & Taylor's Business School, Ground Floor - 11am to 1pm (Mon-Fri)

This event is open to public. There will be games, performances and lucky draw. We would appreciate very much if you could promote this event to your family and friends. As all proceeds of this event go to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), every form of contribution makes a difference to the cancer sufferers.
